The trend is a timely reminder that an insurance policy should be assessed not only on premium, but also on how clearly it explains cover, how exclusions work, and how effectively claims are managed when pressure is highest.

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority’s latest complaints update points to familiar pressure points across the sector: delays, disputed claim decisions, communication breakdowns, premium and policy administration issues, and disagreement over the value of settlements. The bigger message from the latest dispute figures is clear: insurance value is proven at claim time, so policy selection should balance affordability with clarity, service quality and confidence that the cover will respond when it is needed most.
